We are often inundated with advice and recommendations for safety in our homes. It can often be overwhelming and it is impossible to completely "Child Proof" your house. In January 2015, CPSC (U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission) estimated an annual average of 38,000 emergency department-treated injuries (2011–2013) and 430 reported fatalities were associated with TV, furniture, and appliance tip overs*.

 

To avoid any accidents, the best solution is prevention. Here are some helpful tips on how you can avoid becoming a statistic:

• Mount your TV securely and correctly to the wall.  This will prevent any possibility of the TV tipping over

• If it isn't possible to mount the TV to the wall, ensure it is safely attached to a sturdy piece of furniture which cannot tip over with a certified safety strap.

• Remove items that might tempt children to climb onto the furniture. 

• Ensure all TV cables and power cords are hidden or out of reach of children.
